Spring Into Better Sleep with the Best Cooling Sleep Products
It’s only a matter of time before things outside start to warm up. And that translates into hotter evenings—which for many of us means more nights waking up covered in sweat. I’ve written quite a bit about everything that goes into optimal sleep temperature, which, in a nutshell, boils down to finding the right balance between hot and cold to help us get the best possible sleep during the night. And a great way to achieve that is with the best cooling sleep products.
I have patients who naturally sleep hot. I have other patients who are being affected by menopause and specific health conditions, like hormone imbalances, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and sleep apnea, to name a few. These health conditions can make it much harder to stay cool through the night. The result? These patients tend to get a poor night’s rest.
Luckily, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help anyone stave off the night sweats and stay cool. From cooling mattresses to temperature-regulating sleep accessories, you’ll feel cooled off in no time. It’s the perfect opportunity to Spring Into Better Sleep (and warmer weather!)

Ebb® CoolDrift Luxe
An overactive brain that won’t shut off at night can make feeling overheated so much worse. The Ebb CoolDrift Luxe is wearable sleep technology that’s been clinically validated in its ability to help people fall asleep faster and get more restorative sleep. This device was designed based on research conducted at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, which showed that one cause of sleeplessness is due to overactivity in the frontal cortex. Ebb is completely drug free, and it works by cooling the forehead to calm your racing mind. This technology literally thermoregulates your frontal cortex to help you reach a state of relaxation. I personally use this and have found it extremely valuable; I have started to give it as a gift and people love it! If you can’t turn your brain off at night, the Ebb can help (trust me!).
Chilipad Sleep System
I’m a huge fan of the Chilipad Sleep System because it lowers your body temperature for a good night’s sleep, then it reverses course and warms you up to help you feel more alert in the morning. It uses water to regulate temperature, and you can set it anywhere between 55 to 115º F (13 to 46º C). A great Chilipad perk is that it lets two people in the same bed adjust their own desired temperature. This is really great for couples who have a temperature war going on all night long—I call this one The Couple Saver!”
Cool-Jams
No, I’m not talking about the greatest music hits of the 80s and 90s. Cool-Jams is a great company devoted entirely to helping people get a cooler, more restful night’s sleep. They make most cooling sleep products shy of a full-on mattress—from pajamas to bed sheets to mattress covers and anything else you can imagine. What you wear to sleep plays a big part in how cool you’ll feel, and Cool-Jams has quite the variety. They developed a smooth material that works wonders for soaking up any sweat and heat it comes into contact with. They are incredibly soft and effective. And let’s face it—it’s probably time to retire that old t-shirt from college in favor of nice, new pajamas.
EverSheets
EverSheets are made from 100% bamboo, which makes them a natural way to fight off heat. Bamboo is breathable material, so heat doesn’t collect like it would in other fabrics. These sheets help regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather—and they’re also hypoallergenic and antibacterial. One of the best cooling sleep products on this list, they’re a great bonus for hot sleepers who suffer from allergies. EverSheets are available in all sizes, and they’re also OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning the fabric has been tested to ensure its free from any harmful chemicals.
Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress
Mattresses are also some of the best cooling sleep products around, and the first one that comes to mind is the Helix Midnight Luxe. It’s simply a great mattress for hot sleepers. It uses an innovative built-in cooling cover that absorbs heat and regulates body temperature. It’s cover is made from naturally cooling eucalyptus, material designed for maximum cooling. I also recommend this mattress for side sleepers experiencing back pain because it offers lumbar support thanks to its coil core layer. And because it’s a hybrid mattress, it gives you the cushioning of foam with the support of a spring mattress.
Purple Mattress
Another phenomenal cooling sleep product for hot sleepers is the Purple mattress. This medium-firm bed creates a relatively flat surface that will feel comfortable and supportive to most sleep positions. And unlike most all-foam mattresses, this one actually sleeps cool. The Purple is constructed from open-cell grid that has 1800 “air channels” which help transfer heat away from the body, plus it features a breathable knit cover on top. Comfy and cool—what could be better. This bed is literally in a class by itself.
GhostBed Luxe Mattress
All-foam mattresses tend to trap heat. But the GhostBed Luxe mattress is one of the best cooling sleep products available today. A gel memory foam mattress, the GhostBed Luxe excels at motion isolation (great for couples) and responsiveness, without compromising on cooling.
Brooklyn Aurora Mattress
Switching gears back to hybrid mattresses, the Brooklyn Aurora mattress is one of the best on the market for hot sleepers. And it has a stellar reputation that backs up that claim. The Aurora is designed to offer maximal coolness, with technology that makes it literally cool to the touch. You also have your choice of choosing from a soft, medium, or firm mattress. Whichever firmness you choose, you’ll have a durable mattress ideal for staying cool.
Purple Harmony Pillow
The list of the best cooling sleep products wouldn’t be complete without the Purple Harmony Pillow. Simply put, I’m impressed with how this pillow is constructed to pull warm air away from you while you sleep. There are an astounding 1,500 open air channels in this pillow for warm air to move through. It also has a moisture-wicking breeze mesh cover to help you stay cool, and at its center is a ventilated latex core, making it naturally cooler than cores constructed from other materials. This thing is cool, literally.
Try any of these great cooling accessories as the warmer months approach. Doing so can give you a better night’s rest, no sweat.
