Novel Sleep Index May Predict Recurring Vascular Events

A novel sleep burden index predicted cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events after acute stroke, early findings from a prospective study suggested.

Stroke patients with higher sleep burden index scores showed a twofold higher risk of additional cardio-cerebrovascular events in the following 2 years than people with lower scores, reported Simone Duss, PhD, of Bern University Hospital in Switzerland, and colleagues.
